CBS and Viacom merge
After several months of negotiations, Viacom and CBS are merging. Both companies separated in 2005.
The agreement increases the content that CBS will offer to its customers, which is very important as the war of transmission heats up.
The strategy of the new company is to create a catalog of content for both US markets as well as for the international market. Both companies are adding approximately $ 28,000 million in annual revenue. They will own more than 140,000 TV episodes and 3,600 movie titles. According to Voice of America, the merged companies’ main assets include Paramount Pictures, plus television networks such as MTV, Showtime, and Comedy Central.
The merged companies are controlled by National Amusements Inc, the holding company owned by billionaire Sumner Redstone and his daughter, Shari.
This merger had been considered on several previous occasions. They failed due to clashes between the executives themselves due to the division of jobs, as well as the valuation of each of the companies. The recombination occurs almost obligatorily, due to the high competition between media, dominated by Netflix and Disney, which led Redstone to seek a merger.
Business Lawyers
When two companies face a merger process, or when one company acquires another, a significant amount of data is shared. It is also required that many people rely on a few dependents, as decisions related to the investment of money, the purchase or sale of assets, and other complex matters.
The law protects all people affected by the business decision by requiring that the decision-makers exercise due diligence. In order for the due diligence and the merger process to be carried out properly, the services of a business lawyer or a law firm are indispensable.
